Back-to-back relegations, £10 million pound debt and stagnation in the 6th tier of English Football. York City supporters have suffered more than most in the last few years and the patience of their loyal supporters is beginning to wear thin.
“The York City Protest Movement” is a new group set up to put pressure on the clubs’ board after years of mismanagement both on and off the pitch. Rob Lee, a founding member of the group believes there is only one solution, “The only way the club can move forward is under new ownership, we need a clear plan so we can go in the right direction.”
"If the club continues to be ran the way it is then there may not be a club much longer, the debt the club has amassed whilst dropping down the divisions is alarming."
The anger amongst supporters comes after years of decline for The Minstermen, as they suffered consecutive relegations from League Two to the National League North. With a lack of direction and communication from club chairman Jason McGill, most supporters are turning on the man that saved the club in 2003.
Despite calls for Jason to sell the club, Director of football Dave Penney said, “He has no intention of selling the club and is in it for the long run” and that the chairman is “scared to come to matches due to the verbal abuse he may receive.”

Rob went on too say “There is no way back for the current ownership and the only way we can move back up the football pyramid is under new leadership."
City have recently parted company with Manager Steve Watson after 3 years in charge, however the feeling amongst supporters is that regardless of who is in the dugout nothing with change until the club has a revamp from top to bottom.
