Exciting times for Sheffield Tigers RUFC

Sheffield Tigers are a rugby union club who play in the National Two North, which is National League level four of the rugby union leagues.



A team founded in 1932 with a rich history, including 11 titles to their name have an exciting future ahead of them as they look to renovate their ground, to help accommodate more of their teams, ranging from both their senior teams to the juniors, newly formed womens side, and the Sheffield Vulcans, who are the cities first inclusive rugby club.


The Tigers are building themselves a fourth pitch at their ground, Dore Moor, after staying alive during the tough lockdown period. The cost of the renovation could stretch up to £150,000, with the club already having £60,000 from private sponsors.


The Sheffield Tigers website said that It’s estimated that they will need to raise another £60,000 to complete the project. The Tigers will hold a meeting about the plans on the 19th of January.


First team manager, Jamie Broadly said. “We are trying to be inclusive, whether you play for us, or you come down with your family and friends, it’s about being able to accommodate everyone.”


“We want to set ourselves as the destination of rugby in Sheffield. We have rivals, such as Abbeydale down the road, who haven’t got a stadium.”


He went onto say, “Having that fourth pitch will help us develop and accommodate all teams. It’s our womens first season, so we are looking to develop them, and hopefully that fourth pitch will help in doing that. The Sheffield Vulcans also play at the same ground, so its about having that room for all teams.”


The first team currently sit 10th in the league after 13 games, winning six and losing seven. In their last game they beat Luctonians 27-0, with their most recent game being postponed due to COVID against local rivals Rotherham Titans.


Sheffield Tigers first team manager, Jamie Broadly, spoke about his sides season so far, saying, “We’ve been up and down this season, experiencing injuries and challenges. We’ve been restricted due to lack of fitness at times and lost a few games which we should’ve won. This has been one of the most challenging seasons I’ve had as a coach.”


The Tigers do also have a second senior team, who play in the Yorkshire merit league Premier. So far this season they’ve played 8 games, winning only the two games, and losing six.
